Senior Staff Nurse - Ward (RGN)
Oxford
Full Time/Permanent
£28,000 - £35,000

Dream Medical are working with a contemporary private hospital in Oxford and have an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse or a staff nurse looking to take their next step on the career ladder.
We're looking for an exceptional Senior Staff Nurse with the ability to inspire others to deliver the highest standards of patient care. If you're passionate about nursing and you want to grow your career in a leadership role, now's the time to apply.

This role is about leading by example and being an ambassador for our way of caring. It's about recognising talent, nurturing junior staff, and mentoring them to be the best nurses they can be, using clinical skills and an empathetic approach to meet each individual patient's need.

Reporting to the Ward Sister, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team. You'll get to work with some of the best clinical talent around and experience with new practices, equipment and facilities, all of which are maintained to our high standards.

Your key accountabilities will be to provide day-to-day supervision, including clinical supervision of junior nursing staff and students of the department, with responsibilities including all or most of the following:
- Work scheduling/rotas
- Involvement in recruitment, induction, performance review, attendance management, disciplinary and grievance matters
- Competency assessment, training, development and the mentoring of staff
- Ensure work is carried out efficiently and to agreed working practice and protocols

Our purpose-built hospital has 64 beds, 8 theatres, an intensive care unit and other state-of-the-art facilities. We work with some of the world's leading surgeons in a wide range of disciplines, including orthopaedics, cardiothoracic and neurosurgery. Our staff are respected for their professional expertise and encouraged to get involved in decision-making.

As a nurse or practitioner registered with the appropriate governing body, you'll have the qualifications required for registration. A qualification in teaching and assessment is preferred, as is a professional management qualification, such as NVQ level 2 or 3.

You'll have experience of multispeciality surgical procedures, plus further professional training, experience and, preferably, a qualification in a specialist area. You'll also have excellent clinical skills and experience of being in a mentoring role.

Like us, you believe in putting people first. So you'll be a great role model when it comes to giving care – taking the time to fully understand and meet each patient's needs, and showing others how to reassure and support patients and their families. This is the type of care that comes naturally to talented practitioners.

You'll be an excellent communicator and team worker – flexible and motivated. As part of the wider hospital team, you'll interact with practitioners from other areas because you understand that continuity in patient care is key.
